Editor extension

RodiumAi Code inside your editor. The same sessions and the same agent as the desktop app and the rodium CLI, in a compact chat tab that works on the folder open in the editor and follows your theme.

Install

The extension will need VS Code 1.95 or later, and a trusted workspace.

Open RodiumAi

  • Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P, or Cmd+Shift+P on macOS), then RodiumAi: Open in New Tab.
  • The shortcut Ctrl+Alt+R (Cmd+Alt+R on macOS).
  • The RodiumAi button in the editor title bar, or RodiumAi in the status bar.

RodiumAi opens as an editor tab. Drag it to any editor group, split it beside your code with RodiumAi: Open in Side Panel, or open several tabs side by side. Open tabs are restored when the editor restarts.

  • RodiumAi account: sign in in the browser. Your FRODI balance is shown in the app.
  • API key (BYOK): paste a RodiumAi API key (rd_sk_...).

Then pick the model you want from the model selector. See Models.

Work with your code

  • RodiumAi: Add Selection to Chat (Ctrl+Alt+K, Cmd+Alt+K on macOS, or the editor context menu) sends the selected lines to the chat, with a reference to the file and the line range.
  • RodiumAi: New Session starts a fresh session in the current tab.
  • Files the agent refers to open in your editor, next to the RodiumAi tab.
  • Type @ in the chat to add a file to the context.

Slash commands

Type / in the chat to run a command. Commands never send a message to the agent: /new, /clear, /resume, /model, /provider, /plan, /act, /status, /account, /login, /logout, /settings, /mcp, /skills, /workspace (when several folders are open) and /help. Your skills, workflows and plugin commands appear in the same menu.

How it works

The extension starts a local RodiumAi backend on 127.0.0.1, one per editor and shared by all its windows, and shows the interface it serves inside the tab. Nothing is exposed outside your machine. Use RodiumAi: Show Logs to read the backend output and RodiumAi: Restart Backend if something gets stuck.
